Principle Dance enforces a dress code for all classes in order to maintain focus and discipline among students. Teachers must be able to see the joints in order to correct anatomical alignment, aid in injury prevention, and promote correct dance technique. The uniform allows dancers freedom of movement. The dress code also simplifies the parents’ task of dressing students for class. These items may be purchased anywhere. Essential Dancewear offers a Principle Package for our students which includes all required apparel at a 15% discount—coupon given upon registration.

Please note that for summer classes students are free to wear any leotard color.

The Joy of Movement: 1st Semester: Loose clothing and bare feet. 2nd Semester: Lilac leotard, pink footed tights, pink leather ballet slippers.  Ballet skirt optional.

Creative Movement: Lilac leotard, pink footed tights, pink leather ballet slippers. Ballet skirt optional. Pony tail.

Ballet 4 & Int./Adv. Ballet/Pointe: Burgundy leotard, pink tights, pink ballet skirt, pink ballet slippers. Pointe students will need convertible tights & pink pointe shoes. Hair in bun.

Jazz 1 & Tap 1: Black leotard, black footed tights, black jazz or tap shoes. Pony tail.

Jazz 2, 3, & 4:  Black leotard, black jazz pants, black oxford jazz shoes. Pony tail.

Tap 2, 3 & 4: Black leotard, black jazz pants, black oxford tap shoes. Pony tail.

Hip Hop: Loose clothing & black dance sneakers. Pony tail.

Adult Ballet/Tap/Jazz:  Loose clothing and ballet, tap or jazz shoes.

Boys (All Classes): Plain black or white t-shirt and black shorts or athletic pants.  Black shoes appropriate for specific technique.
