Heather Overbeck, Director
Heather Overbeck is the Founder and Director of Principle Dance Studio and Aster Brio Dance Company. As a teacher, choreographer, mentor, producer, and consultant, she delights in collaboration and leads by example. Heather has performed professionally with contemporary dance companies in Chicago. She earned a BFA Degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Texas at Austin while on scholarship and has received intensive training through Ballet Austin, American Ballet Theatre, and Jump Rhythm Jazz Project. Heather continues to explore movement with yoga practice and classes at The Lou Conte Studio, home to Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Ms. Overbeck has been teaching dance for over 15 years. While in college, she student taught at Ballet Austin. Her teaching experience includes a number of private dance studios, the Cultural Activities Center in Temple, TX, The University of TX, Wilbur Wright College, and Act One Studios in Chicago. She has taught ages 2 through adult ranging in levels from beginning through professional. Heather's choreography has been presented at the VORTEX Repertory Company Theatre, Hyde Park Theatre, and the B. Iden Payne Theatre in Austin, TX as well as Hamlin Park, Act One Studios, The Bailiwick Theatre, and The Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago. She specializes in adapting children's stories to the stage for Principle Dance's annual June recitals. Ms. Overbeck also serves as a board member for Lucky Plush Productions, a professional Chicago dance theater company. She currently lives in Brookfield with her husband and daughter. Heather will be teaching Ballet 3, 4, & 5 as well as all Pathway classes. |
