Early Development

Ages 2-9

Saturday 2/1/2020:

“Ballets de Cour Workshop” (Ages 5-9)

1:00-3:00 pm, Shari Klyber (Studio A/B)

$15/student

Dancers will learn about the “Court Dances” that helped modern ballet become what it is today including: Baroque movements, the minuet of the French court, 19th Century social dance, Mazurka elements from the Regency period, reverence, etc. Dancers will make a gorgeous paper craft doll complete with bodice, skirt, wig, and fan.

Saturday 3/14/2020:

“Visual Art and Dance Workshop” (Ages 4-8)

1:00-3:00 pm, Shari Klyber (Studio A/B)

$15/student

Dancers will use abstract art with shapes, pathways, and energy to create abstract dance studies motivated by these artworks using ballet and contemporary dance techniques. Dancers will construct their own art piece and then create a dance inspired by it!

Saturday 3/21/2020:

“Spring Critter Conditioning Workshop” (Ages 2-6)

1:00-2:30 pm, Shari Klyber (Studio A)

$10/student

 

A day of fun exercises with a Spring theme, using movement and language inspired by animal movements, intended to enhance gross motor skills and foundational dance skills for an inclusive group of movers ages 2-6.

Saturday 1/18/2020:

Repertory Workshop with Julie Sanfilippo (Ages 10+)

1:00-3:00 pm, Julie Sanfilippo (Studio B)

$25/student

 

Dancers will complete a short modern warm-up, followed by learning material and phrase-work  from Julie’s repertoire to focus on movement performance quality.

Monday, 2/17/2020: (President's Day)

“The Giordano Experience” (Levels Jazz 3-6/Pathway)

Giordano Dance Chicago Company & Artistic Staff (Studio A &B)

PARTIAL DAY (10:00am-12:15pm only) $75/Student

An intimate experience with Artistic Director, Nan Giordano and Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC) company members. Get a behind-the scenes look at a private rehearsal, take a class in the foundational Giordano Technique, Repertoire and learn more about GDC through a question and answer session.

                                                             10:00a – 11:15a: Giordano Technique Class 

                                     11:15a – 11:30a: Question and Answer with Nan and company members

                                           11:30a – 12:15p: Behind the Scenes Private Rehearsal of GDC

FULL DAY (10:00am-4:00pm) $135/Student

In addition to the above schedule, FULL day participants will get to experience the entirety of a typical company rehearsal day from 10:00am-4:00pm with the Company and Artistic Staff. Dancers will have the opportunity to learn some of the company repertoire while experiencing the structure and expectations of a professional dance company environment.
