Julie Sanfilippo holds a BA from Beloit College and attended the Dance Center of Columbia College and received the community scholarship. She has trained with Gisela Genshow of Aspen Sante Fe Ballet, Anna Paskevska, Homer Bryant, and Larry Long, Jan Erkert, Bill Evans and Ginger Farley and attended the American Dance Festival. She has danced professionally with Kanopy Dance Company, Chicago Dance Medium, Perceptual Motion, Tyego Dance Project, Momenta, Paula Frasz, Valerie Alpert and Dancers and numerous independent choreographers. Her choreography has been presented in The Field, Around the Coyote, Dance Chicago, Vaudeville Underground, Momenta’s Junior Company, OPRF Orchesis and Ballet Legere’s Spring Concert. Most recently choroegraphed the Ballet for the “Peter and Paul” show directed by the Chicago Folks Operetta. She has taught Ballet and Modern at the Chicago Multi-cultural Dance Center, Salt Creek Ballet, Academy of Movement and Music. She currently guest teaches at Ballet Legere and throughout Chicago. She also teaches yoga and private dance lessons.
